Mahana is inspired by the hike to Papakolea, a green sand beach near the southernmost point of the Big Island of Hawaii. Getting to the beach isn’t easy. It starts with a long drive through increasingly rugged roads until eventually, the road runs out and your hike begins. This is private land that the owner is willing to share with the public, but that means it doesn’t feel anything like a walk through a park. It’s an unmarked path with no clear trail to follow, and there are no rangers to guide you along. Instead, you let the coastline guide you, wandering through scene after scene of astonishing views. Eventually, it seems almost like Papakolea finds you, beckoning from above with its stony cliffs and sparkling sapphire waters.
It’s only as you get close that you notice the most unusual element of this faraway beach—the rich green sand. While the color of the beach is striking, it is the feeling of being completely removed from the rest of the world and surrounded by fresh air and natural beauty that makes Papakolea one of the most remarkable places we have ever visited.
Our homage to Mahana is a celebration of fresh air, verdant hills, and driftwood. With notes of Pomelo, Coriander, and fresh green leaves, Mahana is clean, light, and remarkably approachable. Perhaps our freshest fragrance to date, the fragrance feels crisp and pure, like a cool breeze on even the warmest of days.
How it works: If you're new to aluminum-free deodorant, it may take some time for your body to adjust. Below is a guide of what to expect. Keep in mind that everyone's body may react differently.
- Week 1: No odor. Your sweat ducts are blocked from the aluminum in your antiperspirant.
- Week 2: Sweating may increase. You will start sweating more. This is your body's natural way or releasing aluminum.
- Week 3: Sweating and odor decreases. Sweating and any odor issues will start to decrease as your body begins to adjust.
- Week 5: Fully adjusted. Your body should now be fully adjusted.

- Sage: It has anti-microbial properties and helps protect formulas against certain bacterias and fungi.

- Aloe Leaf: Has antimicrobial, antibacterial, and antiseptic properties. It helps soothe the skin and acts as an anti-inflammatory agent. It also helps wound healing and skin regeneration in general.
- Potassium Sorbate: A naturally occurring salt of sorbic acid. Used as a preservative to prevent the growth of molds and yeast.
- Saccharomyces Ferment: A water-like substance made from the fermentation of a type of yeast. It is naturally high in minerals, amino acids, beta glucan, and vitamins. It can easily penetrate the dermis to soothe, hydrate, brighten, and repair.
- Hydrated Silica: Used as a thickener to achieve the right texture.
- Tapioca Starch: An absorptive, gluten-free powder and thickener that is a well-performing alternative for those who seek a baking soda-free deodorant.
